If you’ve been around for a while then you heard the term “You don’t have to re-invent the wheel”. Although this phrase is very popular, some of us still ignore that fact. This could not be any truer than in affiliate marketing.
All cliche’s aside, there is really isn’t need to re-invent the wheel. Not when you’re doing affiliate marketing. You can get the best affiliate marketing training just by following the ones that are doing it well.
Listed below is a smidgeon of the knowledge you can learn by literally stealing from your competitors.
Finding products to promote – Just think about it. Everywhere there’s a crowd, there’s probably something interesting going on. One quick way to find hot products is by visiting Clickbank. And then find the product with the highest gravity. That’s it.
If a ton of affiliates are promoting it, that means it is converting.
Which marketing platform to use – You can spy on your competitor’s to see what platform they use for their advertising. You can do this by following them on all social media platforms, signing up to their mailing lists, searching for them on Google and reading their blogs (if they have one… You can still do affiliate marketing without a website or blog).
Chances are, where they advertise is almost guaranteed to pop up in your face eventually. Then you can get some advance tools like Spyfu to really dig deeper.
How to engage your ideal prospect – This one is really simple. Think about the advertising that your competitors used to get your attention. Go ahead, read their entire salespage. Read their ads. Reverse engineer those ads to find out what got your attention.
How to build a squeeze page – Another simple one. This is just plain stealing. All you have to do is mimic the landing pages of your top competitors. If they are on the leaderboards then they have already put in the work for you. Hate to say it again but, “there is no need to re-invent the wheel”.
Which WordPress theme to use – Are you a blogger? Would you like to know which wordpress theme your competitors are using? Great! Go to WP Theme Detector, enter the blog url and Boom!
Which keywords to target – Have you heard of Google Adwords Keyword Planner? Well, with this free tool you can add a website’s url to locate the keyword that website is targeting. You can even utilize more robust paid tools such as SEMRush and Majestic for more detailed info. Because there’s no such thing as half way crook.
How to setup a successful funnel – I hate to be redundant but…copy the funnel that hooked you like a fish. In fact Russell Brunson has a great course on this topic alone. It’s called Funnel Hacking. And just like the course name states; you find a good funnel and you hack it.
What products work well in upsell – Once you’re inside a great funnel being sold to like crazy—take notes. These are some great ideas that you can also use in setting up your own upsell and downsell products.
How to write proper email series – While I do recommend you beef up you reading on writing good email copy— it does not hurt to use some email swipes from other affiliates. Just as long as you change a few things to make them your own.
You can also follow great copywriters by frequenting their blogs. Copy Chief is one of my favorites. You can learn a lot by allowing yourself to indulge in great copy.
What Complimentary products to promote – If the upsells and downsells of the sales funnel did not provide you with enough ideas for other products to compliment your niche—then the email follow-ups will.
You are almost guaranteed not to have any shortage of ideas from email follow-ups. That’s because the top affiliates never stop promoting. I promise…
So keep your eyes glued on the ones doing it well. Follow. Take notes. Test. And build your own booming affiliate marketing business by learning from your top competitors.
