I know the title of this blog post may sound a little unethical, but trust me, the traffic generating method I will be discussing is totally legal. in fact, many instances your competitors will welcome them. That’s because the same simple strategy help your site will also help your competitor as well.
So in essence what we are talking about here is a win-win situation; my favorite scenario.
Let’s get it started…
The traffic generation method I am talking about is blog commenting. Marketers often miss the hidden gem behind commenting on blogs. Most of them will simply look at these comments as a way to get a inbound link back to their site.
With that mentality in mind, they spam other blogs with worthless keyword laced comments and shameful links back to their website.
This is ineffective in two ways. For one, many blogs are program to automatically add nofollow to blog comment links. In addition, many of these blogs are heavily moderated and therefore the webmaster will most likely delete comments that do not add value.
So what’s the best way around this?
Simply put; add value to the conversation. When you locate a blog that is popular and generates tons of traffic, a well thought out comment that offers value, can lead to tons of traffic back to your site.
But first, you must get your comment approved. And you won’t do that, if you are not adding to the conversation.
When I say add to the conversation, I don’t mean B.S. comments such as “great article” or ” I really enjoyed this”. You should really take the time to offer maybe a different point of view. Whether you agree or disagree, if you are genuine, you will keep the conversation going while engaging others.
And no blog owner is going to be upset with that.
Now let’s tackle the shameful keyword laced links.
When it comes to spamming, the truth is you are not fooling anyone. I mean putting “make money online” in the name section of the comment form will not fly.
Then again, I take it back. It may just work, but only in low class blogs that do not have much authority or generate any traffic.
So therefore they do not moderate. But why would you want a link from a low class blog with no authority anyway?
The fact is even a “nofollow” link from an authority high traffic blog traffic is much more valuable than a keyword rich link from a low class blog.
So basically, the formula is simple. Find high traffic quality blogs. Give value by adding to the conversation. Enjoy free high quality traffic back to your site. Enjoy better rankings for your website.
How does the blog owner benefit from you legally stealing their traffic?
The search engines work in mysterious ways. And one way search engines rank blogs is through engagement.
With that being said…
Blogs that create tons of engagements, social shares, and mentions do better in the rankings than those that don’t. Period.
